How to enjoy Summer 2025 with your kids!

Summer is such an important time for kids to recharge and relax after working so hard during the school year! Kids do best when they have a mixture of freedom and structure and the absence of the natural structure that school provides means we have to intentionally add structure. Summer is a great time to enjoy quality time with your kids and to practice new skills. 


Set yourself up for a wonderful summer with your kids with tips from the child therapy team at Nurturing Wellness LLC:


  • Use a visual schedule and have your kids help plan their schedule each day/week. The more kids are involved in making their schedule the more willing they will be to follow the plan!

  • Encourage your kids to try new things. Help remind your kids that they can be brave and scared at the same time when learning a new skill. Those tummy butterflies are a message to us- let's learn how to interpret those messages!


  • Schedule one on one quality time with your kids each day. Just 5 minutes of special one on one time has shown to have a big impact on kids behavior


  • Make time for yourself. An overwhelmed, anxious, or upset parent equals an overwhelmed, anxious, or upset kid. Prioritize managing your own feelings so you can help your child manage their big feelings. 


  • Summer is also a great time to practice adding new routines to your schedule. Add daily quiet time, outside time, special time with caregivers, independent playtime, etc. 







Spending time connecting with your child and helping your child learn to care for their minds and bodies during the summer is a great way to set you up for a successful transition back to school!
